Like all other sanctuary animals, players can only have two of them.
Elephants calves have two different appearances: grey and brown.
If players tap on the grey elephant calf, it blows dust out of its trunk.
If players tap on the brown elephant calf, a chicken appears and sits down in front of the calf. The calf plops down on its belly and watches the chicken and then playfully knocks it over with its trunk.
Unlocking and placing
Just like the adult sanctuary animals, elephants calves cannot be bought. Players must unlock them by finding puzzle pieces (which are collected in a log book). 36 pieces are required for each animal.
Once the puzzle for an elephant calf has been completed, players are asked to upgrade the elephant house, which does not cost anything. Once it is upgraded, the elephant calf is "airlifted" into the sanctuary in a crate by balloons.
When given a wheat bundle elephants calves eat then roam the sanctuary for ten hours and finally fall asleep. Players can immediately wake them up to receive 25 xp per animal. Elephants stay asleep otherwise.
Elephants which have been woken up but are not fed for a long while cannot fall asleep and wander around looking sleepy and tired.
Each elephant unlocks specific decorations as listed below:
- The grey elephant calf unlocks Blooming Cacti and Elephant Ear Plants.
- The brown elephant calf unlocks Orange Ice Plants and Sago Palms.
